3 July 2005 - Jersey City, NJ, USA - A rider competes in the skids event, which requires bikers to cover the greatest possible distance with a non-moving back wheel, at the 13th annual cycle messenger world championships, Jersey City, USA, July 2nd 2005.  A new world record of 509 feet was set on this occasion by Gerardo Atilano, aka "Squirrel", from Houston, TX. More than 700 riders from all over the world took part in the 4-day competition which carries event based on the daily work of a city bike messenger.
