25 April 2004 - Crepon, France - Former military Charles Kirkpatrick, now working as a civilian historian under contract with the US Army in Germany, observes a statue commemorating D-Day in the small Normandy village of Crepon, 25 April 2004. He is visiting the region to take part in the preparation of the celebration of the 60th anniversary of D-Day. His role will include explaining the event of June 1944 to participating American soldiers, some of which will have just returned from Iraq.
